One of the most important things one should think about before leaving on a cruise is about the sleeping quarters on the cruise ship. There have been many times when a person does not consider the sleeping quarters of the cruise ship and books a cabin without thinking about it. This has lead to a lot of problems as when the passenger finally arrives on board then they see that they would have preferred a different cabin than the one they had previously booked. So, it is always advisable to closely look into the sleeping options or cabins of the luxury travel ship to avoid any complaints that may arise later on.

Before you randomly book a cabin on the cruise ship, you should closely look at the details of the cabins given in the cruise brochure. This will help you get a lot of information about the accommodations and will also help you to decide on a cabin. When you are booking a cabin, the cost is also an important factor. It has also been seen that people tend to book the cheapest cabin so that they can save some money, however, you should be aware of the fact that the cabins of the ships are not that large in size and the cheap cabins will always be the smallest cabins that are just under or above the water level. This would mean that these cabins often do not have any windows. So, if you are a claustrophobic person, you know that it is best to steer clear from these cabins.

There are a whole large variety of sleeping quarters on a cruise ship. Some cruise liners may even give you a choice of twenty to choose from. The price of a cabin or the stateroom is often determined by the size of the room, the quality and the size of the bed. If you have some space to move around in your cabin or a window to look out into the ocean then this would make a huge difference. Most of the expensive rooms on a cruise often have big windows or verandahs or balconies attached to them. To be able to go and sit on the verandah in front of your home and to enjoy the view world have definitely helped you to move into a holiday spirit, if only they didn’t burn such a huge hole in your pocket.

You can also do your research about the accommodations on the cruise liners website. The website would have all the details of the cabins that you are looking for. Often you will see that most of the cabins are described as standard. Standard usually means a cabin that is about 150 square feet with two twin beds or one double bed, and had a T.V, a dresser, a closet and a telephone. A D.V.D player or a V.C.R, an extra chair and a reading lamp is also included in a standard cabin. If you are lucky enough than your cabin may have a porthole as a window. In these cabins space is used efficiently, however, somehow these cabins are just not designed for the regular visitor.

If you have a tight budget and are not too keen on spending more on accommodations then the economy suite is the best option for you. However, if you feel that you would not be comfortable in an economy suite then you know that you have many options to choose from and it is always better if you spend a little more money on your accommodations.

Lodge Safaris in Tanzania – I will try to avoid the travel clichés of ‘unique’, ‘off the beaten track’ and ‘renowned for…’ These tired expressions are used over and over again for almost every destination in Africa! The lodge safari in Tanzania is by far the best way to see this lovely country. Tanzania has so much to offer, including many parks that have few visitors and high concentrations of game animals. Some National Parks boast just one lodge in a million hectares. Your Lodge safari in Tanzania can truly offer a taste of what the early explorers experienced.

When choosing your lodge safari, do so with care. Many visitors want to see the great migration and the Serengeti. Some lodges are in fact hotels and although very nice; they do not contribute to that ‘out of Africa’ experience. What is called for is a camp experience and the private camp is ideal for a special experience. When you look to plan your trip try not to go for the ‘lodge safari’ but the private camp safari. Your choice of lodge or camp is a very important part of the whole safari picture.

These camps are usually made up of a small number of tents. Not the two man tent with no standing room and sleeping on the hard and sometimes damp ground, nor is there the cooking over a stove and eating grass and sand with your tinned food. No, these private camps have tents that have large comfortable beds, a bathroom en suite and some even boast a butler service. The cuisine is of the highest quality and you dine from bone china and drink champagne [or beer] from crystal glasses.

If you want to listen at night to the song of the African bush with the occasional distant [or sometimes close] roar of a lion; if you want to open your tent in a morning to be greeted by Impala and Zebra grazing so close to your tent that you could almost touch them, then choose one of the tented camps. If you want to be in a remote part of the park but close to the animals; if you want to stand in the open plains of the Serengeti and not be joined by a caravan of twenty other safari vehicles, then the private camp is your option above the mere mass-market tourist lodge.

There are several such camps scattered throughout the Serengeti. Your choice of camp will depend on what time of year you visit Tanzania. A good camp is Kusini Camp in the Southern Serengeti. It is small, luxurious, and in the ideal spot from the end of December until March, as the great migration is in this area at this time. However, the rest of the year this camp is a little isolated and animals may be harder to see.

A problem with planning a safari round the migration is that the migration follows the rains and the rains are notoriously unpredictable. Your camp may end up being in the wrong area of the Serengeti. At times of little rain the migration can remain in the Northern Serengeti at a time of year when normally the animals have crossed into Kenya. Many safari expeditions in a season of little rain may find themselves in the wrong country!

This is a headache for safari operators, as a disappointed client is not good for business. However, this can be solved with a ‘mobile camp’ and this is not only the best option but also by far, the most expensive option.

To get around the high costs of the mobile camp there is a new breed of camp emerging, a semi-permanent camp. This is a tented camp that moves perhaps three or four times per year. It will follow the migration, ensuring that whilst the migration is in the Serengeti, the camp will also be in the mist of the animals. One such camp I have heard good reports about is EMC [Exclusive Mobile Camp – Serengeti]. It is friendly, knowledgeable, embraces fair trade tourism and best of all, the camp is very good value for money. They have a web site and an office in Arusha which will give out details of the migration and the position of their camp. This is great, both for tour operators and for people wanting to plan a safari.

This is where the internet can help in a positive way, to help you plan a safari that will truly be a holiday of a life time. There is no need to hope your travel agent will do a good job in planning your vacation. Take some of the responsibility your self and plan your safari; check out your destination and accommodation. If your travel agent or tour operator is not cooperative or flexible, ask around and go to someone who is willing to earn their commission.

Few vacations can rival staying in elegant London hotels and exploring the history of the British Empire. Think of yourself, after listening to a classical music concert in Royal Albert Hall, crossing the street to the north to view a marvelous monument to the Prince Consort, Prince Albert. With the last notes of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons still playing in your mind, you gaze up at the centerpiece of the Albert Memorial, a seated figure of Prince Albert covered in gold leaf. Then, you take your time, strolling around to view the impressive sculptural Frieze of Parnassus, which depicts 169 composers, poets, architects, painters, and yes, sculptors. You return to your hotel, stopping first for a cup of tea in the lobby, and then go on up to your elegantly appointed room for the night.

Strolling through Hyde Park the next morning, you gaze up at Wellington Arch, also known as Constitution Arch. Planned in 1825 by George IV to commemorate Britain’s victories in the Napoleonic Wars, you are told by a local Londoner that it was conceived as a grand entrance into central London from the west. Also within the park, south of Serpentine Lake, is the Diana, Princess of Wales memorial, an oval stone ring fountain opened in 2004. Whether your taste for history is for queens and kings of another age or more modern royalty, London wraps you in its charms like no other city in the world.

Truly a city of the visual arts, London offers over 240 museums, from the traditional to the modern. The National Gallery on the north side of Trafalgar Square, houses 2,300 Western European paintings from the years 1250 to 1900. The Tate Modern is Britain’s national museum of international modern art, housed in the former Bankside Power Station. Since the museum’s opening in May 2000, the Tate has become a popular destination for Londoners and tourists alike.

Affording a London vacation was once limited to those of wealth and privilege, but this is no longer the case. Using the internet site http://londonhotels4u.com, you will discover you can experience London elegance at a very affordable cost.

By liaising with London hotels directly, this site offers stays at fine hotels without the high costs you might expect in a world-class city. Additionally, the hotels are located near the London Underground, colloquially known as the Tube. This subway system, which is itself both a delight and an experience you will remember for a lifetime, covers much of Greater London and even some neighboring areas. Choosing hotels that are within easy access to the Tube offers a way to explore and experience London that is both very affordable and highly entertaining—not to mention extremely efficient.

Each day in London brings memories to last a lifetime. Experiencing luxury in London hotels, sampling a great city’s culture and its history—never has it been more affordable or more elegant.

Palazzo Rimondi, Rethymno has 21 rooms and is made up from several 15th Century Venetian houses hidden away in the back streets of Rethymno’s Old Town. This hotel is for the connoisseur of historical buildings that have been modernised but are still in keeping with their surroundings.

Casa Delfino, Chania is a 17th Century former palace situated in the most beautiful town on Crete.

We hope that this article is informative for those seeking a luxury hotel in Andalucia in Southern Spain. The hotels that we have stayed at in Andalucia in Southern Spain are similar to the exclusive country house hotels that we have stayed at in England-all offering a personal and professional service of the highest standard.

HOTEL CORTIJO SOTO REAL

Hotel Cortijo Soto Real, set in 1,000 acres, is located between Jerez and Seville several miles from the A4 in the middle of the Andalucian countryside.

Hotel Cortijo Soto Real was originally the opulent private residence of an Algerian prince and was converted into a luxury hotel in recent years. The hotel has 24 bedrooms/suites.

We arrived at this exclusive hotel in the evening to be greeted outside reception by two members of staff who quickly removed our luggage from the car which was then parked for us. We were upgraded to a junior suite (having been shown around 4 junior suites and asked to choose which ever one we wanted). The junior suite, beautifully furnished, had a seperate living area overlooking the orange grove. The huge bedroom had french doors opening onto a terrace with sun beds and table and chairs overlooking the acres of grounds and the outdoor swimming pool. The bathroom was the largest we have ever seen with a double ended whirlpool bath and huge shower with jets aimed at various angles. The lady asked my wife if she wanted a bath run for her whilst we enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine in the exotic Morocon styled drawing room but upon returning to our suite not only had a bath been run but it was surrounded by candles-what a greeting!

Dinner was taken in the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious. Breakfast was eaten outside in a courtyard to the sound of bird song.

This luxury hotel has an indoor swimming pool, small gym and hairdressers. The outdoor swimming pool is magnificent with the hotel staff providing outstanding service throughout the day direct to you at the poolside-you can have lunch by the poolside.

On the hotel’s estate you can hire quad or mountain bikes, ride on horseback or even a horse drawn carriage or shoot.

This is an exclusive luxury hotel set in the real Spain located well away from the busy tourist resorts. Nothing is too much trouble-the attention to detail is excellent. The hotel staff are professional and most personable. This luxury hotel in Spain provides a superb base to spend the day lazing around the pool or walking in the immaculate grounds and then to drive late afternoon to Seville or Jerez or tour around the famous White Villages in the locality. You will never forget the experience of being pampered at this luxury hotel -infact you will not want to leave!

Enjoy!!

HOTEL VILLA JEREZ

Hotel Villa Jerez is a luxury hotel in Spain located in an exclusive residential area of Jerez only a 10 minute walk from the home of the famous white Andalucian horses where a display can be witnessed.

We arrived at the Hotel Villa Jerez, whch is a classic residence set in an acre of beautiful grounds, late in the evening to a wonderful greeting outside the hotel entrance door with our luggage being removed from the car and the car parked for us. We had asked for a light salad to be prepared for our late arrival but they had prepared a beautiful 3 course dinner including a salad served in the hotel restaurant by a most friendly waiter. We had a junior suite with a seperate living area, a huge bedroom and a luxurious bathroom with double ended bath and a seperate walk in shower with water jets. Our suite overlooked the gardens and had a balcony with sun beds and a table and hair here we enjoyed tea before going down to breakfast which we had outside.

This luxury hotel has 16 bedrooms so you are assured of a personal service-you will be called by your name! The outdoor swimming pool is outstanding and beautifully situated. There is a small gym and sauna and steam room.

Jerez is beautiful to walk around with many designer shops and of course world famous as it is the sherry capital of the world-a visit around a bodegas is a must.

The most memorable evening was to have dinner in the gypsy quarter of Jerez at a restaurant where a performance of Flamenco dancing was performed-it was so intimate with only about 50 guests-mainly locals. You could not help but become encaptured with the electric atmosphere!

This luxury hotel in Spain has the most wonderful location for easy access to the city centre in about 5 minutes by car. The staff at this hotel are a credit with nothing being too much trouble. We would not wish to stay anywhere else in Jerez when visiting this beautiful old city in the future. Although this luxury hotel is located close to the centre it is peaceful and tranquil relaxing outside in the gardens by the pool. You can also travel to the quiet remote beaches of the Costa De La Luz in about 40 minutes.

The Hotel Villa Jerez is a most exclusive luxury hotel where you can be assured of an attentive service-you will not wish to leave!

Enjoy!!

We visited Cape Town in South Africa to attend a wedding flying from Birmingham in England via Amsterdam to Cape Town with KLM.

Our flight touched down late at night and we were driven by our friends to the first of two luxury hotels we had arranged to stay at for four nights in Cape Town:-

THE CAPE HERITAGE HOTEL

This luxury hotel in Cape Town is centrally located within walking distance of both the financial area of the city and the shops and parks.

There are fifteen bedrooms. Our room was huge, beautifully furnished with a wonderful wooden floor and we could sit up in bed with a view of Table Mountain.

This luxury hotel in Cape Town is owned by an Englishman who is most personable-nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a delight served by the most friendly staff you could possibly meet. A lovely lounge to relax in with a drink in the evening. Although dinner is not served there are numerous excellent restaurants close by which the hotel can recommend-do not miss dining at L’Aubergine! The hotel will arrange a taxi for you if required -in a mercedez benz.

You can be assured of a warm welcome at this luxury hotel in the middle of Cape Town and you will be well looked after during your stay.

Enjoy!

For the final two nights of our stay in Cape Town we moved a few miles into the exclusive suburbs of Cape Town to :-

LES CASCADES DE BANTRY BAY

This luxury hotel, actually described as a lodge, is located in a peaceful exclusive residential area of Bantry Bay.

It is personally run and has six bedrooms in the main house all with balconies with views of the sea. The furnishings both in the bedroom and in the public areas are of the highest quality. The bathroom was luxurious. In The Villa, a separate building located within the grounds, there are four bedrooms designed in a contemporary style. The small swimming pools are beautiful with lovely seating areas to relax- candles lit on an evening. Breakfast was served outside overlooking one of the swimming pools. Dinner is also served but we did not dine at this luxury hotel.

The staff are very attentive and personable at this small luxury hotel.

Enjoy!

Whilst we did not stay at The Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town we did have afternoon tea and what a memorable experience that was! We have had afternoon tea at many other luxury hotels but nothing has compared with that at The Mount Nelson Hotel. Do not miss the experience!

Enjoy!

Selecting London hotels based on location as well as price can make a London vacation both comfortable and affordable even on a shoestring budget. There are many hotels located within an easy walking distance to “The Tube.” The Tube is London’s most commonly used form of transportation for residents and it can make getting around the city fast, easy, and affordable. With 275 Tube stations throughout London, it’s not difficult to find a hotel within easy walking distance to one of these stations, giving travelers easy access to the many sights and experiences London has to offer.

While guided tours of London can be costly and most museums charge admission, there are many things to do in this wonderful city that don’t cost a dime. For instance, visitors may want to check out Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park. Other suggestions include the many parks located in London, viewing art at Kenwood House and the National Gallery, watching London light up at dusk while walking the Embankment, or trying the free food samples that Harrods always has to offer. Many affordable London hotels are located in close proximity to these attractions or are just a short Tube ride away.

Dining in London does not have to break the bank either. There are certainly many wonderful restaurants in London for those who seek a luxurious (and expensive) dinner, but the true adventure of London comes in part from the pub experience. Not only can travelers get a pint of their favorite local ale, but they can also indulge in traditional English fare: Fish and chips, bangers and mash, Ploughman’s lunch, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Additionally, the pub is a great place to meet some of the locals and hear about some of the area’s history and folklore. Visitors may also learn of the favorite haunts of London residents and have the chance to see a side of city that other, less adventurous travelers might miss.

Saving money while on vacation may be a necessity for some travelers. For others, the savings may provide the opportunity to splurge on something very special, something to be remembered for years after the vacation. This splurge might be a dinner prepared by a world-renowned chef, enjoying a theatre production, or a memorable stay at one of many luxurious London hotels.

Unlike many other holiday or vacation destinations, London can accommodate all budgets, even very small ones. There are several London hotels available for £28 (about US $55) or less, many of which are located close to the Tube. The Tube provides fast, affordable, and easy transportation around the entire city, making it simple for visitors to get from one sight to the next without the expense of car rental or parking fees. London features many admission-free attractions and sometimes the best way to find them is by visiting a pub, enjoying a pint and some grub, and taking up conversation with one of the local residents.
